Milwaukee, WI – On Nov. 5, the self-proclaimed “fastest growing motivational movement,” #besomebody, met the world’s fastest growing boycott movement on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Over 20 activists handed out informational fliers exposing the connection between SodaStream and the #besomebody “movement” which markets SodaStream’s in-home soda machines. Activists educated fellow students on SodaStream’s human rights abuses which include operating on an illegal Israeli settlement in the West Bank of Palestine.
Members of two Students for Justice in Palestine chapters held signs that read, “Don’t drink SodaStream. Support Palestinian human rights. #besomebody against occupation.”During the action, activists from the Milwaukee Palestine Solidarity Coalition and Friends of Palestine met with #besomebody’s founder, Kash Shaikh, and urged him to cut ties with companies that profit from the occupation of Palestine. Before a large group of activists Shaikh admitted, “I didn’t do a very good job looking into their background,” referring to SodaStream, and said he was personally opposed to the occupation.
Actions and local campaigns against companies that sell SodaStream have been springing up over the last year as it becomes one of the primary focuses of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. A national week of action against SodaStream will coincide with ‘Black Friday’ later this month, focused on the retailer Target, demanding they withdraw the product and break ties with the Israeli occupation.

Join the vigil protesting Israel’s air raid on Gaza, which has led to the death of fifteen people so far including young children.
Israel has launched an attack on Gaza firing missiles into one of the most densely populated areas in the world. There are fifteen confirmed dead so far including two children, with the death toll expected to rise considerably. Rinan Arafat a seven-year-old girl was just one of the children killed in the attack.
IHRC is calling for a vigil outside the Israeli embassy to condemn these murderous actions. The international community need to condemn this act of aggression and call for a halt in Israel’s murderous actions. This is a continuation of acts of aggression against Gaza and Israel is now attempting to escalate the situation.

They are currently being held in immigration detention. Earlier today, defence lawyers were informed that a judge had ruled that they should be freed without charge, but this ruling was ignored by Israeli police, who handed the two activists to the Ministry of Interior, to begin the deportation process. They could be flown back to their home countries within hours, despite never having been charged, let alone convicted of any crime. They have also been repeatedly denied contact with their lawyer. Substantial legal costs have already been incurred. If they choose to fight this unjust deportation, then these will be even higher. We urgently need funds to challenge the Israeli tactic of deporting solidarity activists to prevent our work in the West Bank. Freedom for international activists can also be key in legal processes for Palestinians who are arrested at the same time. Previously this month, four ISM activists and two Palestinian men were arrested. One of the Palestinian men was released just yesterday, following a judge’s decision that to keep him in prison after the international activists had been freed would be unjust and discriminatory. On Tuesday, September 18, 2012, as Palestinian hunger strikers Samer al-Barq, Hassan Safadi and Ayman Sharawna struggle for their lives within Israeli prisons, the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank launched a campaign of arrests throughout the area, rounding up 60 political activists, including youth organizers, journalists, writers and former political prisoners. The arrest total has now risen to 114 and none of the detainees have been released. Act today to demand immediate freedom for the arrestees!
Among the detainees are at least 35 freed prisoners, including some freed in recent weeks from Israeli jails. Fuad al-Khuffash, director of the Ahrar Centre in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners – and who has now declared an open hunger strike – was one of the arrestees, as was journalist Walid Khaled, released from occupation prisons only 2 weeks prior. Among the detainees, rounded up by the Palestinian Authority’s General Intelligence and Preventive Security, are participants in the recent hunger strikes in occupation prisons and a number of recently freed prisoners. Adel Shawamra, one of today’s detainees from Bethlehem, was recently released after 13 years in Israeli prisons.
The PA’s role here is nothing new. As part of the Oslo Accords and its subsequent security corollaries, the Palestinian Authority and its Preventive Security/General Intelligence have acted as security subcontractors for the Israeli occupation, trained by US military officials (such as Gen. Keith Dayton) to round up Palestinian resistance fighters and political dissidents.
It is not coincidental that these arrests come shortly after mass protests in response to economic inequality swept the West Bank, soon focusing on the Oslo Accords and their economic corollary, the Paris Agreements. The existence of Palestinian Authority security forces engaging in “security coordination” with the Israeli occupation, effectively undermining the Palestinian resistance, links directly back to the Oslo Accords.
Amid Hassan Safadi’s hunger strike, his brother Saleh was arrested by the PA; Palestinian prisoners including Ahmad Sa’adat, Ahed Abu Ghoulmeh, Ahmed Qatamesh and many others have spent time in PA prisons as well as Israeli prisons. This practice has been part and parcel of “security cooperation” with the Israeli occupation from the earliest days of the Palestinian Authority.
As we mark the nineteenth anniversary of the Oslo Accords with a series of PA arrests, we also note that there remain 111 prisoners who have been imprisoned since before the Oslo accords – these prisoners remain inside the occupation’s jails to the present day. Prisoners throughout the Israeli prisons engaged in a one-day hunger strike on Thursday, September 13 – the anniversary of Oslo – and again on Tuesday, September 18 – demanding the freedom of these long-time prisoners. Just as Oslo did not bring freedom, justice or liberation to Palestine, nor did it for its prisoners, a group of Palestinians who despite their centrality to the Palestinian national movement – were ignored and excluded from the Oslo “peace process.” Oslo’s latest victims – the political detainees in the West Bank – are demanding freedom. Act today to support their freedom and united Palestinian struggle against Israeli apartheid, occupation, and settler colonialism.

As they organize to defend their land and Palestinian farming against the onslaught of settlements and siege, Palestinian agricultural workers and organizers have been subject to an intensified arrest campaign in the occupied West Bank of Palestine. A number of staff of the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (Facebook), a Palestinian grassroots organization that organizes Palestinian farmers to defend their land and develop their products, have been targeted in recent days for arrest by Israeli occupation forces.

This is the most recent in a series of arrests of UAWC activists in recent weeks, including the Director of Development and Operations, the engineer Fuad Abu Saif on July 26 in an early morning raid on his home in Hebron, in which his computer, mobile phone and other communication devices were seized. The director of the UAWC Jericho office, Mohammad Nujoom was abducted on July 16 as he re-entered Palestine from abroad. Both were taken to the Moskobiya compound for interrogation.On July 31, Dr. Moayad Ahmad Bisharat, the coordinator of UAWC’s Jericho office was abducted at dawn from his home. The UAWC office in Jericho was then ransacked by Israeli forces, who confiscated the computers, laptops, and files of the organization.
In addition, UAWC Board Member Ahmad Soufan, held in administrative detention for one year, was recently ordered into a third term of six months in arbitrary administrative detention without charge or trial. Two other UAWC leaders, Abdel Razzak Farraj, administrative and financial director, and Board member Dr. Yousef Abdul Haq, were both finally released from administrative detention after multiple renewals of their imprisonment.
UAWC, which recently marked its 25th anniversity, has been struggling with Palestinian farmers and agricultural workers to defend and develop their land, support Palestinian agricultural projects, and support farmers’ steadfastness on the land in the face of Israeli occupation and aggression.
The attack on the UAWC is part of the overall attack on Palestinian farmers and agricultural workers, from olive farmers whose trees are set ablaze by settlers, tthose whose land was stolen for settlements, “military use,” or “buffer zones”, to the fishers of Gaza, who daily brave military attack for seeking to fish in their sea. It reflects the over 64 years of occupation, land theft, displacement and dispossession of the occupation of Palestine. Farmers and agricultural workers are on the front lines of resistance as they struggle to remain on their land – and are thus being targeted for arrest and imprisonment in an attempt to undermine the steadfastness of the farmers.
Western governments, including those of the United States and Canada, are not only silent in the face of these attacks, they are directly complicit, as they pledge expanded military support and allegiance to Israel as its occupation, apartheid and human rights violations continue and escalate. It is urgent that people make their own voices heard to challenge and break this complicity.

Two weeks ago, activists from US Campaign member groups and other organizations joined organizers in 115 cities worldwide for the 8th Annual Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW)!
From Olympia, WA to New Brunswick, NJ; from Burlington to Boston; US Campaign member groups in more than a dozen U.S. cities held IAW actions and events during the global week of action to educate people about the nature of Israel as an apartheid state and to build campaigns for boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) against Israel.
Exposing Israel's apartheid policies and challenging corporations that profit from the Israeli occupation are central to the US Campaign's mission of ending U.S. institutional support for the Israeli occupation and promoting freedom, justice, and equality.
The actions -- including guerrilla theater, mock walls, mock checkpoints, new billboards, walk-outs, and street theater -- and participating cities are too many to name here. (For a complete list of participating cities and their activities, visit the official IAW website.)

Students at UCLA and UC Irvine staged peaceful and powerful walk-outs from presentations by Israeli soldiers organized to counter IAW.

More than a hundred activists protested performances by the Israeli Batsheva Dance Company in San Francisco and New York City with banners, guerrilla theater, marching bands and street theater, calling attention to the dance troupe's role in theBrand Israel campaign to whitewash Israeli apartheid.
The Seattle Middle East Awareness Campaign launched a series of advertisements on local King County Metro buses with billboards calling for equal rights for Palestinians.
These actions came on the heels of film screenings, protests, panel discussions, and so much more that happened across the country earlier this month.

Yesterday, Freedom Waves to Gaza activists detained in Israel - including Canadians David Heap and Ehab Lotayef - came before a judge and were told they could be held in prison for 2 months without charges or trial.
To avoid this, the judge told them, they must sign a statement that they entered Israel 'voluntarily' and 'illegally' despite being violently kidnapped from international waters and taken to Israel against their will while trying to reach Gaza. While a handful of Freedom Waves to Gaza participants have been deported – including Canadian Karen DeVito – 18 activists and journalists have now been in Israeli prison for 5 days with no end in sight. DeVito is available for interviews.
The Israeli military forcibly commandeered the boats Tahrir and MV Saoirse that journalists and activists were traveling on as part of the Freedom Waves initiative and brought them to Ashdod port in Israel.
American journalist Jihan Hafiz was on the Canadian boat Tahrir, and was among those detained by Israel despite her press credentials. Israeli authorities ordered her and others not to talk about "anything negative or political" during their brief phone calls to home from Israeli detention. This censorship explains why some details are only just coming out now. She reported Tuesday about her experience during the Israeli takeover of the Irish and Canadian boats:
"There were three warships [...] four Zodiacs, four water cannon boats, as well as four regular gunboats. All of the commandos on all of these boats were heavily armed. It looked like they were taking on an army of a foreign country."
She added: "Two water cannons started to pour lots of water into the Irish boat, which flooded it, blew their sockets, and cut off all the electricity. And so, at that point, the Irish delegates I spoke to said they told the Israeli army, "We're taking on water. We're sinking. We're going to go down at sea if you continue with the water."
Hafiz went on to describe the violent takeover during which guns were pointed at the heads of the boats' passengers, how they were roughed up, mistreated, strip-searched, and filmed naked. She also tells of how the journalists' equipment was confiscated, in a bid to silence any reporting that might contradict the sanitized Israeli account of what happened during the hijacking of the Tahrir and the MV Saoirse.

"In its failure to speak out against Israel's blockade of Gaza, the Canadian Government is condoning Israel's disregard for the human rights of the citizens of Gaza and giving it impunity for its refusal to comply with its international obligations. It is this silence that compels citizens of good conscience, like David and Ehab, to act where our Government has so consistently failed to do so."

Canadians detained in Israel arriving home tomorrow
Despite a threat from an Israeli judge that they could face 2 months in prison, Freedom Waves to Gaza activists David Heap and Ehab Lotayef are being released and deported back to Canada today. They will arrive on Thursday, November 10.

The third Canadian who was aboard the Tahrir, Karen DeVito, has also been released and will be returning home to Vancouver next week. The remaining delegates from Ireland and Australia are also expected to arrive home by the end of the week, but the status of UK journalist Hassan Ghani is still unclear.
The reason why those who were detained undertook this journey in the first place was to show solidarity with the ordinary people of Gaza who have lost their basic freedoms as a result of a blockade imposed by the military forces of Israel, and to take action that would contribute to the end of that blockade.
Freedom Waves was never intended to focus attention on the 27 people aboard the MV Saoirse and the Tahrir, but on the 1.6 million people of Gaza – half of whom are children under the age of 16 – who continue to suffer collective punishment at the hands of the Israeli military. While Canadian and international citizens were languishing in prison in Israel for the “crime” of coming to their aid, the population of Gaza continues to languish in what is, in effect, the world’s largest open air prison.
This latest of eleven attempts to break the blockade of Gaza via the sea demonstrates once again that Israel is able to act with impunity when it comes to the welfare of the Palestinian people and anyone trying to help them. It is because of the continuing inaction of governments around the world, including the Canadian government, that ordinary people feel compelled to act.
The brave activists returning tomorrow will be available for press interviews upon arrival at Pearson International Airport.

he seven Irish human rights activists due home in Ireland this afternoon at 2:25 pm were at the last minute prevented from boarding their flight out of Ben Gurion airport by Israeli armed guards. They had been taken last night to a holding cell and were ready to board their 7:40 am flight to London this morning when at the last minute they were prevented from doing so by Israeli security forces and returned to Givon prison. All seven are now being detained indefinitely, with no further news available from Israeli authorities or the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs about when they will be released.
An Irish Ship to Gaza shore team coordinator spoke briefly on the phone with Fintan Lane before communication was abruptly cut off. Lane said: “This is a deliberate and calculated attempt by the Israelis to break our spirit. It won’t succeed.”
Lane also reported that the seven had been subject to “continuous harassment and repeated, humiliating body searches” and were shackled and “denied sleep”.
Gay Lawlor, Zoe Lawlor’s brother, spoke briefly with Zoe, who described what was happening as “sheer malice” on the part of the Israelis.
The families of the detainees are phoning member of the Irish Ship to Gaza shore team this morning in great distress.
Laurence Davis, Irish Ship to Gaza spokesperson, commented: “We are outraged by this latest attempt by the Israeli authorities to break the morale of the human rights activists, their families and their supporters, all of whom had been looking forward to the homecoming this afternoon in Dublin. This is yet another example of the cruelty and arrogance that the Palestinians face every day.”
Irish Ship to Gaza spokesperson Claudia Saba added: “It is particularly distressing for the families to learn that their loved ones won’t be coming home as they had expected, and distressing that they have no update as to what exactly is happening or when they will be finally freed.”
Ана е еврейска американка, активист в движението за права на Палестинския народ, автор на книгата Witness in Palestine: A Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories. Ето как самата Ана предстявя себе си в личната си страница.
Подобно на повечето американски ивреи израснах с идеята, че Израел е демократична страна, търсеща и бореща се за мир. 3а мен Израел символизираше спасението, закрилата за целия еврейски народ от гонения и убийставата от миналото, гонения, чийто жертви са били и членове на моето семейство. Виждах еврейската държава като малка и изстрадала страна, която просто иска да живее в мир, но не може заради агресивните арабски съседе, мразещи всички евреи.
През 2003 година, по време на мое пътване из Близкия Изток, се срещнах с много палестински бежанци от 1948г. Аз нямах идея кои са палестинците, или къде се намира Палестина, но чрез новите ми познати чух разкази за историята и случващото се момента в Израел(Палестина), разкази, които коренно се различаваха от начуеното от мен в Щатите.
Първата ми реакция бе на недоверие и дори гняв. Семейства ми разказваха истории за отминали и настоящи военни атаки, разрушаване на домове, конфискация на земи, лишаване от свобода без съдебен процес, измъчване. Изглеждаше, че тези действия не са извършени за да предпазят еврейското насаление, а по-скоро за да се създаде и териториално увеличи Еврейска държава за сметка на отнемането на правата, живота, достойнството на не-еврейското население в този район. Беше ми много трудно да повярвам, че Израел може да действа толкова несправедливо.
Невярвайки в това, което чувах, реших да проведа собствено прочуване и запознаване със ситуацията. Бях шокирана да открия колко малко знаех за „ситуацията на земята“. Не знаех на кого какво да вярвам за това реших да ида и да видя ситуацията със собствените си очи. Откакто се върнах от Палестина, посветих своето време и живота си на това да информирам американците и всички останали хора по света за това, което намерих, това, което видях.
А това е видео разказ на преживяното от нея – това е нейното свидетелство за Палестина :
Първа част – Въведение (със субтитри на български)
В първа част Ана представя себе си и споделя:
Когато за пръв път отидох в Палестина бях изненадана от много неща, но това, което ми направи най-голямо впечатление в началото бе как всъщност изглежда Палестина.
Прествях си, че Близкият Изток е само пясъчни дюни и пустинни земи, а когато пристигнах там осъзнах, че Палестина всъщност е много красива. Земята е зелена и плодородна.
Кое според мен е в основата на Израело-Палестинския конфликт? Много хора смятат, че това е вражда между евреи и мюсюлмани, съществуваща от хиляди години и която ще продължи още толкова, защото в основата са дълбоки религиозни различия.
Но едно от нещата, които осъзнах, когато пристигнах в Палестина бе, че това не е религиозна война. Това е борба за земя, за вода, за ресурси. Надявам се, че основанията ми да стигна до това заключение ще станат ясни по време на презентацията.
Втора част – отделни пътища за палестинци и изралеци и контролопропускателнни пунктове:
За шосетата и магистралите в Западния бряг:
В Палестинските територии живеят едновременно палестинци и израелци, но те използват отделни пътища -има палестински и израелски пътища.
Палестинските пътища са стари, често дори негодни за пътуване.
Израелските пътища са по-модерни, построени от израелското правителство за израелски граждани, живеещи в тези територии.
Има магистрали, които са забранени за палестинците, освен ако те нe получат специално разрешително,с което могат да използват определена част от от определено трасе, но във всички останали случаи пътищата са разделени.
Относно контролопропусквателните пунктове:
Те са важна част от окупацията.
Това са бариери, в които гранични войници, контролират палестинското движение – пешеходци и автомобили. Идеята зад тези пунктове е подобна на идеята на преминаване на границата -
всички се нареждат в линия, показват своите лични документи, отговарят на въпроси, понякога се налага да покажат какво носят в своя багаж.
Една от основните разлики е, че те не се намират на границата на Западния бряг, но в действителност повечето от тях се намират вътре в самите Палестински територии – повечето от тях са разположени между палестински градове и села.
Какво означава това за палестинец, който да кажем живеем на юг от Хеброн (южната част на Зап. бряг) и който иска да пътува 30 мили на север до град Витлеем, който се намира близо до Ерусалим.
И така, 30 мили … при нормални условия това би трябвало да отнеме между 30-40 минути,
може би най-много един час, но на един палестинец са нужни понякога 2 часа … понякога 4 часа, 8 часа, понякога дори един цял ден.
Зависи колко пъти и за колко време тя или той ще бъде спирани на тези пунктове.
Пунктовете правят почти невъзможно палестинците да имат постоянна работа – никога не се знае дали ще ти отнеме 20 мин или 3 часа за да стигнеш от селото до близкия град.
Подобно на това, посещаването на училище или университет е почти невъзможно, освен ако университетът не се намира в млакото ви родно село. Освен това – да идеш на сватба, на погребение, дипломиране, да посетиш роднини – всички аспекти от живота са зависими.
И дава конкретен пример от престоя си в Палестина, от пункт на входа на Наблус:
В деня, в който бяхме там имаше следното правило – беше позволено да преминават жени, възрастни мъже и деца. Но на всички мъже на възраст между 15 и 40 години им бе забранено.
Точка. Нямаше знамчение от къде идват или къде отиват, кои са те, дали не е спешен случай .
Ако си палестински мъж, между 15 и 40 годишен, не може да се прибереш вкъщи, да идеш на работа или на училище, до болницата или където и другаде.
Трета част – Отнемане правото на свободно здравеопазване
Нарушенията на правото на здравеопазване са друг важен проблем, причинен от пунктовете и окупацията като цяло. Поняка линейките се налага да пътуват с часове, минавайки и спирайки на КПП-та…припомнете си, че тази линейка пътува от палестинско селище до палестински град.
Нe пътува от Западния бряг до Израел.
Но пунктовете се намират именно на такива места – в палестинските земи. По какъв начин спиранете на линейката не осигурява сигурността на израелското население след като там живеят палестинци.
И отново дава конкретен пример с пункт на изхода на едно село, където е забранено преминаването на хора от 7 вечерта до 7 сутринта:
Жена от селото, бременна в седмия месец с близнаци, получи контракции в един часа през нощта.
Съпругът ѝ ни откара с колата до пункта, през който трябва да се премине за да се стигне до близката болница в Рамала.
Войниците, които спят там излязоха и ми казаха много мило: “Виж, заповедта е много ясна – палестинците не могат да минат през тук преди 7 сутринта. Моля ви, върнете се тогава.“
Жената очевидно не можеше да чака 6 часа за да роди чак тогава. Започнаха да спорят, но войниците отново бяха много мили и извинявайки се повтаряха едни и същи думи:
“Вижте, ние не измисляме правилата, ние дори не сме съгласни с тях. Просто следваме заповедите.“
Тогава съпругът реши да повика линейка, която да дойде от болницата в Рамала и да вземе съпругата му, която ще премине пеш през пункта. Линейката пристигна по някое време,
а войниците отново поклатиха глави. “Вижте, няма значение дали ще минете пеш или с кола.
Вие пак сте палестинци, все още е посред нощ, все още не може да преминете.“
В този момент съпругът реши да се обади на всички свои приятели в Израел, защото той подобно на много други палестинци е работел в Израел, говори иврит и успя да се свържe с приятел, който има връзки в армията.
И така жената успя да получи разрешение да мине през пункта и да стигне до болницата. Войниците позволиха да мине, но не позволиха на съпругът ѝ да мине с нея.
Тя стигна до линейката и почти веднага започна раждането. Роди две деца и двете бяха живи и в добро здраве, освен разбира се че бяха недоносени. И защото бяха недоносени имаха голяма нужда от болнична помощ. Но те бяха на час път от болницата, по средата на селски път след като родителите бяха чакали 2 часа и нямаше как да стигнат болницата на време.
Поради това и двете деца починаха…
Четвърта част – блокади на пътя и колониални селища
Пример за това какво представляват блокадите на пътя.
Има директен път от селото до пункта, но на живеещите в селото не е позволено да го използват.
Защото съществуват така наречение блокади на пътя.
В повечето случаи това са бетонени блокове с формата на куб, поставени по средата на палестинските пътища с цел да попречат на палестинците да използват своите автомобили върху дадения път.
Така вместо да преминават през павиран път с дължина половин миля от селото до пункта всяка сутрин на път за работа или училище, хората от селото трябва да минат през непавиран селски заобикалящ път с дължина 3 мили за да стигнат до същото място.
Какво означава това за тях – повече време, повече стрес, повече ремонт на колите, повече бензин.
И отново въпросът със сигурността – тези блокади и пропусквателни пунктове имат за цел да осигурят сигурността на изрелското население да предотвратят терористични атаки.
По какъв начин тези блокади на пътищата предпазват когото и да е?
Не осигуряват ли по-скоро контрол?…
Същевременно те са много вредящи и на палистинската икономика. Като навсякъде по света има нужда да се превозват стоки от една точка до друга. Но благодарение на пунктовете и блокадите това не е никак лесно.
И продължава с темата за заселниците:
Това са общности от еврейски израелци, които живеят върху палестинска земя. Те могат да живеят в села, малки или големи градове. И отново, цялата земя е палестинска – принаделжи към палестинските международно признати територии.
И въпреки това, там, върху тази земя е построено колониално селище, в което живеят единствено израелски евреи.
Какво значи това? Кой може да живее там? – Хмм, аз мога да живея там, защото съм еврейка.
Ще се наложи само да попълня молба и мога да се преместя следващата седмица, ако искам.
Същевременно на палестинците, на фермерите, които притежават земята, върху която е построено селото не им е позволено да живеят там.
Те са незаконни съгласно международните закони, които не позволяват на окупатора да премества
свои граждани да живеят в окупираните територии. А именно това прави Израел. Вместо да се опитва да спре тези действия, Израел в действителност ги рекламира.
Израелското правителство плаща на собствените си граждани за да се преместят от Израел в окупираните територии, за да станат част от незаконното население-окупатор.
Финансовите помощи, предлагани от правителството, са много примамливи, а хората, които се възползват от тях получават добри жилища, субсидирани от правителството, хубави паркове за децата им молове, плувни басейни в място, в което водата е толкова ценна.
Примамливо предложение, нали? – И отново, всичко това е построено незаконно върху палестинска земя.
В момента има колонии из целия Западен бряг. Естествено, заедно с селищата се строят и пътни възли, които буквално разделят на парченца Палестинските територии.
И не забравяйте, че тези пътища са построени незаконно върху палестинска земя. И въпреки, че палестинците притежават земята, върху, която те са построени, те нямат право да ги използват поради отделната пътна система.
Следващата част от презентация е за постовете, които са подобни на колониалните селища,
защото те също са построени незаконно върху палестинска земя:
Една от главните разлики са хората, които избират да живеят там.
Вече споменах за икономическите заселници, които се живеят в колониите, водени от финансовите облаги. Те са 80 процента от заселниците. Прочванията показват, че те са съгласни да напуснат окупираните територии, ако им бъдат предоставени финансови компенсации.
Останалите 20 процента от заселниците често биват наричани “идеологически“ заселници, те живеят там не поради материалните облаги, а заради своите религиозни или политически убеждения.
Много от тях вярват, че земите в Зап. бряг и Газа принаделжат на еврейския народ. Според тях палестинците са тези, които са окупирали еврейските земи.
Често те просто идват посред нощ и построяват пост насред палестинските земи,
казвайки “Ние няма да си тръгнем! Тази земя ни принадлежи.“
Фермерът се събужда на следващата сутрин и върху земята му има еврейски пост.
И макар, че изр. правителство твърди, че не подкрепя тези действия, те не правят почти нищо за да ги спрат или прогонят. Така с времето, тези малки постове стават по-големи, в тях се преместват още заселници и те искат училище за децата им, те искат ограда, която да ги предпазва, път, който да ги свързва с Израел.
И след известно време то вече не е просто пост, а ново селище.
По този начин са създадени голяма част от днешните поселения. И щом веднъж бъдат признати за селища, те започват да получават субсидии от изр. правителството.
И отново Ана дава конкретен пример с пост над едно палестинско село, в което живеят около 300 човека:
Често заселниците идват в селото, добре въоръжени, и се опитват да сплашат селяните, да ги накарат да напуснат домовете и земята си.
В миналото те многократно са пребивали палестинци, пребиха стара жена със собствения ѝ бастун,
убиха един селянин и откраднаха маслини.
Не забравяйте, че на палестинците по тези земи не им е позволено да имат със себе си каквото и да е оръжие.
По-голямата част от палестинците няма с какво да се защитят, освен с камъни и с телата си.
Докато изр. войници и цивилни, тези заселници, често се разхождат с огромни оръжия. Това е блансът на силите, които се вижда при посещение на териториите.
В конкретното сели заселниците бяха изгорили ел. генератор, така че в него нямаше електричество.
Също и водния източник на селото, заселниците са нападнали и него, отровили водата с мъртви пилета. По всякакъв начин се опитват да накарат селяните да напуснат.
В края на 2002г жителите на селото се събраха и решиха да напуснат. Решиха да напуснат своите зе
ми и домове, защото се чустваха толкова заплашени от присъствието на заселниците.
Събраха багажи си и напуснаха, всичките 300 души.
Но част от тях събират куража да се върнат след като получават подкрепата на активисти, международни и израелски активисти:
Много е важно хората да правят разлика между това някой да бъде евреин – от еврейската вяра или култура, като мен самата, или да бъде израелец – гражданин на държавата Израел, или да бъде Ционист – подръжник на идеята за създаване на “чиста“ еврейска държава.
Това са три напълно различни категории, някои части се препокриват, но не са едно и също нещо.
Важно е да правим разлика – има евреи, които не са израелци,като мен. Има израелци, които не са евреи- 20 процента от израелците са палестинци. Има евреи, които не са ционисти. Има ционисти, които не са евреи. Например все по-мощното християнско ционистко движение в САЩ.
…
Окупацията и подтисничеството нямат нищо общо с Юдаизма. Да критикуваш тези действия не е антисемитизъм.
За стената:
Според планувания маршрут на стената около 80 % от него дори не доксова зелената линия, която е международно признатата граница на Зап. бряг. Вместо това стената се строи вътре, дълбоко в палестинските земи и всъщност ги анексира.
В повечето случаи стената е построена колкото може по-близо до палестинските населени места.
Така не само съседното колониално слеище, но и земите около него в крайна сметка попадат от израелската страна на стената. И тези земи не са само хубави поляни, на които можеш да правиш пикник от време на време.
Те обикновено са земеделски райони, които поколения палестински фермери и техните семейства са обработвали, от стотоци, дори от хиляди години…и днес, поради строежа на стената, те нямат достъп до тях!
И дава пример с град Калкилия с повече от 50 000 палестинци, който е напъно обграден от тази висока бетонена стена. След това говори за видовете цензура в Израел и САЩ и призовава хората да направят свое собствено проучване.
Друго последствие от стената е, че хората са разделени един от друг. Ако например къщата ви се намира малко извън селото, а стената е построена точно до началото на селото се оказва, че къщата ви е от грешната страна на стената. Точно това се случи с приятелката ми Мунира. Тя и семейството ѝ живеят в клетка, заобиколени са от стена от всички страни, а единствената порта за влизанет в дома им е пазена от войници. Сега дори са заплашени от прогонване и унищожаване на дома им от страна на армията. Така съпругът на Мунира, който е бежанец от 1948 г, ще стане бежанец за втори път.
Помнете, че 60 % от палестинците, които живеят в Зап. бряг и Газа са бежанци, загубили почти всичко вече веднъж.
Помнете това, когато чуете следващия път “палестинците не искат да правят компромиси“.
Ана продължава с темата за палестинската съпротива:
Палестинците използват и са използвали мирна съпротива не просто веднъж или два пъти,
но буквално всяка секунда, всеки ден от живота си.
Просто се замислете за момент. Замислете се за Мунира и семейството ѝ. Просто това, че са останали в дома си, казвайки: “Вижте, отнехте ни земята, свободата ни, но няма да отнемете дома ни.“
Това е вид съпротива… и е мирна.Това е мирна съпротива.
Според мен, всеки опит на палестинците да запазят своя нормален живот и достойнство въпреки окупацията е вид съпротива срещу системата.
След това Ана дава редица други примери, а на края на видеото разказва за ежеседмичните демонстрации, които често са посрещани с истински амуниции от изр. армия.
Последна част от презентацията:
Ана признава, че понякога и палестинските младежи използват насилие, тоест хвърлят камъни по време на демонстрации:
Хвърлянето на камъним се използва като оправдание за масовото арестуване на млади палестинци,
които са осъждани за хвърляне на камъни. Напълно съм съгласна, че камъните са оръжие, но сега си преставете обстановката, в която те са хвърляни.
Например, тези момчета не са събрали много камъни в себе си и отишли в Израел за да замерват възможно повече израелци с камъни, защото мразят евреите.
Те са в собственото си село, наблюдават как джипове и булдозери обграждат селото
унищожават дървета за да построят стена около селото.
За това те вземат камък и го хвърлят по тези джипове и булдозери.
За това просто ще ви попитам – ако някой дойде у вас и просто вземе телевизора ви, после уредбата и компютъра. Няма ли да вземете лампата до вас и да я хвърлите по него?
Не става дума за опрадваване, а за това да бъдем реалисти
Какво ще направите в тази ситуация?
И какво очаквате от палестинците да направят в ситуацията, в която са, със стената?
Повече от 340 палестински деца и 9 500 палестински политически затворници са държани в израелските затвори днес. Повече от 10 процента от тях са “административно задържани“, тоест могат да бъдат задържани без присъда за безкрайно дълъг период.
40 процента от мъжете в окупираните територии са били в изр. затвор. Според Амнести мъченията и униженията са систематични.
Това,което намирам за невероятно е, че въпреки систематичното задържане на палестинците, които са част от мирната или насилствената съпротива.
Въпреки пропускателните пунктове, заселниците, стената, конфискацията на земя…
въпреки всичко това палестинците продължават да се съпротивляват, да се борят за правата си.
