Remembering Rachel Corrie- Her life and work for peace and justice
Please join us in remembering and honoring the life and work of Rachel Corrie. Rachel was killed in Palestine on March 16, 2003 in Rafah, Gaza.
Rachel was crushed to death by an Israeli military Caterpillar D9 bulldozer.Six years after Rachel’s death her story continues to resonate with people throughout the world. Rachel was born and raised here in Olympia, creating a unique and special relationship to Rachel, her work and to Palestine.
Join us at The Olympia Center, March 16th at 6pm in rooms 101-102. We will begin the evening with a community potluck, please bring a dish to share and enjoy with others. Beverages, utensils and plates will be provided. The potluck will be followed by music performed by Seattle singer/songwriter and activist Jim Page. We will then show a short video clip of the recent destruction in Rafah, followed by a community discussion focused on people’s reflections six years after Rachel’s death as well as other topics. The evening will conclude with a walk to the waterfront for a vigil.
Come remember and honor Rachel, her work and her impact on this community and beyond.
