Pediatric Neurosurgery Team Completes Mission to Palestine
On December 12, a 6-member team of doctors and nurses from the USA finished treating children with neurosurgery needs at both Ramallah Hospital and Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem. Led by Prof. Alex Zouros from Loma Linda University in California, who has taken several teams to Palestine with the PCRF in the past, the team included Chicago surgeon Dr. Ahmed Khaldi, who has also work with the PCRF in the past, first time member Dr. Samer Elbabaa from the University of Arkansas, returning anesthesiologist Dr. Deanna Dalia from Cincinnati, Loma Linda surgical resident Dr. Justin Spooler and returning anesthesia assistant from Cincinnati, Ms. Christine Schuckmann. There are no pediatric neurosurgical services available in Palestine and the PCRF is working with Prof. Zouros and his team to help improve the quality of care there for children with significant head and spinal disorders.
