This event is really coming together with so many people wanting to come to remember the 1417 Palestinian men, women and children that Israel killed in Gaza at the beginning of last year.
We are very touched that Manal Timraz will be giving a short speech as the die in happens. Manal lost 15 memembers of her family during the attack, 11 of whom were children. We will also have with us Sameh Habeeb, a Palestinian journalist who was one of the few journalists who witnessed the assault from inside Gaza, and Natalie Abu Shakra who worked alongside Palestinian medical teams on the ground.
Help us in a last push to let people know about this event, invite friends to come via email, the facebook event or by phone.
For those already signed up - we look forward to seeing you there on the day. For those who haven't yet signed up, to help us give each participant the name of someone who was killed to represent at the Die-in we asking people to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org (just say your name or pseudonym) or sign up via our webpage www.gaza1417.wordpress.com. Of course please come even if you don't sign up before, we will be giving people names to represent on the day as well.
In preparation, please wear warm clothes - it may even be worth bringing a bit of cardboard to lie on - (concrete can get incredibly cold!), participants may be lying down for up to 30 minutes as we undertake a short speach on what we're doing and why we're doing it.
We have asked people to come at 1pm, and to meet us at the base of the Fourth Plinth - We will be holding a Palestinian flag. From here we will provide you with a card with the name of the person you will be representing. We will then undertake the action at 2pm. We recognise this involves a little bit of waiting around, however this is to ensure all people are present and that all the names are handed out and people represented.
Thank you and looking forward to seeing you on Saturday at 1pm Trafalgar Square.
Peace and respect
