Following on from recent actions held around the country, we are proposing another one, somewhere in London, on Sunday, August 23rd.
Once again, the action is intended to be non-arrestable. We will not be doing anything illegal, merely entering the supermarket and holding the usual sit-down protest with chants and songs. If the police are called, we will leave before they arrive.
There are two reasons for choosing this time. One, DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) should be issuing new guidelines on the labelling of settlement produce in August, and two, it coincides with the beginning of Ramadan, so we hope to tie it up with the issue of Israeli medjoul dates.
There will be a meeting on the 18th August at 7.30pm to go over the plan, to set the location and to address questions and concerns regarding how it is to take place. It will be held at the School of Oriental and African Studies, Russell Square. Reception will be able to advise of the room upon arrival.
We'd like to make this a big one, so anyone interested in taking part please let me know, or just come to the meeting.
